Our Club's journey

History

Established in 2016, the Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club is a volunteer led sporting club with a strong sense of community values .

Based at the Banyul-Warri Fields sporting precinct in Torquay, the club was formed to encourage families of the seaside town to live a healthy lifestyle and for kids of all abilities to enjoy playing sport. The Suns is the newest of two football and netball clubs based in Torquay and was introduced to accommodate the substantial and rapid growth that the North Torquay area is currently experiencing . 

In 2016, the Suns entered their first football teams into the AFL Barwon Geelong Junior Football competition and by the years end, we entered our first teams into the Geelong summer netball competition. In 2023 the club continued to go from strength to strength fielding football and netball teams in their respective summer and winter competitions. 

The club anticipates strong growth over the next few years as more and more families move into the area, while also expanding into a Senior Football and Netball Club.
