Life Membership Policy

Approved by Committee in November 2022.

1. CURRENT CONSTITUTION

The Committee may elect as Life Members any Member who has rendered special and distinguished service to the Club. Other key information outlined in the Constitution is:

  • To be nominated for Life Member, a member must have been a financial member for a period of not less than five years

  • At least 75% majority vote of the Committee is required to elect a Life Member

  • A Life Member shall enjoy the full privileges of the Club without paying any subscription

2. PURPOSE of POLICY

The Club regards it as very important to recognise special and distinguished service to the Club. There are many people who have had a positive impact at the Club and the purpose of this policy is to provide some criteria and guidance to recognise such service.

The Committee has full discretion over the awarding of Life Memberships. In addition, the Committee reserves the right to withdraw Life Memberships if it deems fit to do so. At least 75% majority vote of the Committee is required to withdraw a Life Membership.

3. DEFINITIONS

Life Membership Sub-Committee – The Sub-Committee established by the Committee to:

  • Make recommendations to the Committee regarding the Life Membership Policy

  • Consider nominations for and make recommendations to the Committee for the awarding of Life Memberships in accordance with this Policy

Special and distinguished service – service over a significant period that resulted in a substantially positive and demonstrable outcome for the Club’s operations and future capabilities

Senior grade team:

  • Football – senior or reserve grade teams

  • Netball – all senior grade teams, excluding U/19s for sake of clarity

4. AUTOMATIC LIFE MEMBERSHIP

There is no awarding of automatic Life Membership.

5. GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LIFE MEMBERSHIP

The Committee reinforces that Life Membership is to be awarded for special and distinguished service only – service over a significant period that resulted in a substantially positive and demonstrable outcome for the Club’s operations and future capabilities.

Guidelines as to length of service to assist the Life Membership Sub-Committee are as follows:

a) Players

Football & Netball

  • 200 Games

b) Coaches

Football & Netball

  • 200 Games

Combined service as a player and coach is to also be considered by the Life Membership Sub-Committee.

c) Committee and other volunteers

  • 3 seasons as President

  • 4 seasons as Committee Member

  • 5 seasons as a Volunteer

Combined service as a player, coach and committee/volunteer is to also be considered by the Life Membership Sub-Committee.

6. ENTITLEMENTS

  • Club Annual Membership

  • Invitation to any Life Members dinners, or equivalent function

  • Recognition on Club Website

  • Name on Life Member Honour Board

  • Other entitlements as the Committee deems fit from time to time

SCSFNC LIFE MEMBERSHIP NOMINATION FORM

Life membership nominations must be lodged with a Club Committee member by 31 August in a year for consideration in that year.

Combined service as a player, coach and committee member/volunteer is to be considered by the Life Membership Sub-Committee.
