Surf Coast Suns News Update

It has been a fantastic week at the Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club! We are all so proud of how all of our kids continue to improve week in week out.
Football News
All of our players this year have already exceeded our expectations. The new kids and those that have transitioned from Auskick have settled in really well and made lots of new friends. The kids that have been around for a year or two have shown an enormous amount of improvement and we are really excited about the direction we are heading as a club.
This week, all four of our teams came away with wins, so well done to you all of our players, coaches and supporters. A big shout out to our under 10's who had their first win with only 12 players on the field after a couple of late withdrawals due to illness.
U9 Suns Polworth 6-5-41 Defeated Portarlington Red 2-4-16

The girls have improved again this week and had some much closer games in their second grading matches. We are all really proud of how you are going so far and the direction you are heading. Keep working hard at training and most importantly, keep smiling and having fun. Your efforts so far have been fantastic!

U13 Suns 1 (10 goals) Lost to St Joseph's Black (12 goals)
U13 Suns 2 (1 goal) Lost to Eagles Red (48 goals)
U15 Suns (9 goals) Lost to Torquay Black (21 goals)
Next Friday there will be no netball games on due to the clash with the Geelong Cats home game. Netball games will resume the following week on the 11th May.
If any girls would like to wear their training shirts or netball dresses and help out for an hour with NetSetGo on Friday night please let Nicole or Amber know. It runs from 5-600pm. Our future netball stars would love to see you there.
Auskick
We've had some great numbers rocking up the last two weeks, with almost 100 kids involved. Joel has done a fantastic job getting the new format up and running, ably assisted by Tom. We are thrilled with the amount of parent helpers that are getting involved as well, so thank you all very much.
A big shout out to Penny, Sophie and Paula for running the bbq and to Mark who has been helping out week in week out for over a year now.
Each week we are going to need to rotate a few different families through the bbq and canteen so that it isn't always the same people doing it. If you can help out with this, please let Joel know.
NetSetGo
From what I saw of NetSetGo on Friday, there was lots of kids smiling, laughing and having fun which is absolutely awesome! I also saw plenty of parents getting involved and helping with the activities and they looked to me like they were having just as much, if not more fun than the kids. Well done to you all, it was really great to see.
A big thank you to Mark's mum (I'm really sorry, I've forgotten your name) who did an amazing job getting things on track. You're a superstar!
Keep up the good work and keep having fun!

In 2017 we held the clubs inaugural Surf Coast Suns Golf Classic. This was a great fundraiser for the club and a really fun day. This year we will be doing it again on Friday 14th September. It will be held at one of our Gold Sponsors venues, The Sands Torquay.
Last year we had around 50 people participate on the day and everyone had a ball. This year we are aiming to have between 80-100 people involved, however tickets will be capped at 100.
The day includes 18 holes of golf with a motorised cart, BBQ lunch, entry into the end of year raffle and prizes.
It is open to everyone, even if you've never played before. It is Ambrose rules, meaning you will go around in teams of four and the player that has the best shot, is where everyone hits the next shot from.
It's an awesome day and I encourage you to sign up before June 30 to receive the discounted price of $100 per person. After this date, the price will go up to $120 per person.
If you can grab a team of four people, that makes it even easier to organise, so ring your family and friends and get them involved in our great club too.
